Spring Energized Seals (SES), also known as Variseal, consist of a U-shaped modified PTFE (Teflon) sealing ring and an internal precision metal spring. The sealing force is generated by the combined action of the spring’s initial tension and the system’s media pressure, which pushes the sealing lips against the mating surface. Unlike traditional rubber seals, it combines the chemical inertness, high temperature resistance, and low friction of PTFE with the constant resilience of a metal spring, ensuring stable performance where other seals fail.
